当托尼·斯蒂尔到来的时候，我正在一家饭店里吃晚饭。

几年前，托尼在一家律师事务所工作，但现在他在一家银行工作。他收到不少的工资，可他总是向他的朋友借钱，却从来不还。

托尼看到了我，并和我坐在了同一桌。他从来没有向我借过钱。当他在吃饭的时候，我请求他借我二十英镑。让我吃惊的是，他马上就给了我那些钱。

“我从来没有向你借过一点儿钱，”托尼说，“所以现在你可以付我的晚餐费了！”

I was having dinner at a restaurant when Tony Steele came in.

Tony worked in a lawyer's office years ago, but he is now working at a bank. He gets a good salary, but he always borrows money from his friends and never pays it back.

Tony saw me and came and sat at the same table. He has never borrowed money from me. While he was eating, I asked him to lend me twenty pounds. To my surprise, he gave me the money immediately.

"I have never borrowed any money from you," Tony said, "so now you can pay for my dinner!"
